who plants and the man who waters have one purpose, and each will be
rewarded according to his own labor. For we are fellow workers. (1

About
Our President:
I have followed the email trail for the "GWB
witnesses to a teenager" story, sought out
those who might know about it's accuracy, and spoken with Larry Meaux by
telephone. Some information just showed up.
The story has been a blessing for me. What a shame that it is not true. So
many of us have hoped and prayed that the event happened just as
described. How wonderful it would be to have a president who witnesses for
our Lord, even when he is pressed for time at a public political event.
Maybe we would be encouraged to follow his example.
Email efforts resulted in three people who know "GWB" - a
pastor, a spiritual/political advisor and a member of his Austin campaign
staff. All three implied that GWB might very well do such a thing. Two of
them were in the process of checking the story out.
The third person knew that the story was not true. The post election time
table and schedule of events just did not include such an event with the
GWB in attendance. But this person followed with his personal and moving
account of the prayer meeting that was held the day after GWB was declared
president-elect - a prayer service that included an intercessory prayer
read aloud by members of his staff. A copy of that prayer appears below.
During this adventure, I came across two other notes. Both of them are
worth your time.
The first is an article from "George" (September 2000), written
by Aaron Latham: "How George W. Bush Found
God" (http://www.georgemag.com/xp6/George/main.xml). The second note
is "The Testimony of George Bush" http://www.qni.com/~wren58/bush).
This reads like a personal statement by GWB. However, it seems as if it
was not written by him, nor was it written with his consent. It appears to
consist of information that was lifted from GWB's autobiography ("A
Charge To Keep") and rewritten as if it were directly from him. The
information nevertheless appears to be correct.
I do not know why people stretch the truth, when there is so much positive
to say about this man's walk with our Lord. For now, the bottom line of
this story must be: THREE PEOPLE WHO KNOW OUR PRESIDENT-ELECT CAN IMAGINE
THAT THIS STORY WOULD BE TRUE - THANK YOU GOD! - Each of us might wonder
if our associates would believe that a similar story about us would likely
be true.

Prayer of Intercession (by staff members at prayer service)
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Almighty God, by whose mercy we have come to the gateway of a new
era for our country. Grant that we may enter it with humble and grateful
hearts; and confirm our resolution to walk more closely in Your perfect
will and labor more faithfully in Your service. Forgive our shortcomings
and our sins; purify our hearts to see and love the truth; give wisdom to
our leaders, especially President-elect George W. Bush and Vice
President-elect Dick Cheney; and give steadfastness to our people. In the
time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of
adversity, do not let our trust in You fail. Guide us as we seek to do
Your will. Amen."
GWB
witnesses to a teenager:
From Larry Meaux in Winnie, Texas. "There
is a man in our church, Jeff Benoit, who has a friend who served on
President Elect Bush's campaign in Austin, and she called him to tell this
story.
Last week, Gov. Bush appeared at the thank-you banquet for his campaign
staff, and was going table to table to shake hands with the 1000+ campaign
volunteers. He got to one lady, who by a brief comment she made,
indicated she was a Christian. She was there with her 16 year old son.
Gov. Bush asked him if he was a believer, too. He said he didn't think so.
Gov. Bush then asked, "Do you mind if I tell you how I came to know
Christ as my Savior?" The boy agreed, and Gov. Bush pulled up a chair
and witnessed to him for 30 minutes, and led him in the sinners
prayer!
Jeff's friend was so choked up, she could hardly tell the story through
tears. Yes, my dear friend, we are living in the end times. How glorious
to know that our new president is a man that doesn't feel the political
pressure to glad-hand 1000 people, but would take 30 minutes of his
precious time to lead a teenager to Christ.
Thank You Jesus
