PRAISE
GOD FOR HEALING!
Matt. 7:7-8
“Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find;
knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth;
and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Have you ever had to use a cane or walker; perhaps
even used your furniture as a helper to move around your home?
I have. It isn’t
any fun but it is better than being immobile.
My car stayed in the garage for months because I wasn’t strong
enough to drive. My
husband, Jay, or one of my sisters was my helper.
They did the driving and taking me places.
I felt wonderful, just weak and worn out.
Finally, my doctor and I started communicating.
I had been telling him I was tired and really I was weak.
Then there were test, test, and more tests with all negative
results and I was getting weaker. There
was a time that I was in bed for a week or ten days.
I had an appointment with a neurologist but before I saw him I
saw my personal physician and he told me he was convinced I had ALS (Lou
Gehrig’s Disease). He had
two other patients that had ALS and he was very familiar with it.
I was familiar with the symptoms of ALS and could see why he
would think of that diagnosis. He
asked me what I was going to do. I
told him I had great faith and was not going to let the disease slow me
down. I was not giving up.
He stated to me that my faith was what would get me through.
Having a Christian physician is wonderful.
What a blessing!
When I shared this information with Jay, family
members and my Bible Study class, the prayers began. We claimed the
promise in Matthew 7:7-8. Jay
called his family in the Pacific Northwest, Kansas and Birmingham.
Everyone with whom he spoke, he shared our burden and another
prayer line was established. I
was amazingly calm during all of this time.
The diagnosis didn’t seem to upset me, I just was frustrated
because I couldn’t go and do as many things as usual.
But through it all Jay, my family, my Bible Study class members
and I continued to petition God.
My visit with the neurologist was routine and then
he scheduled me for a defining test.
After the test he told me I did not have ALS but he didn’t know
what I had; come back in 6-8 weeks.
My personal physician agreed with us that this was not acceptable
and he scheduled me with another neurologist.
During this time, I was getting stronger and stronger.
During my visit with the second neurologist, more testing was
done and he agreed that I did not have ALS and his diagnosis was poly
neuropathy. Medication and
physical therapy were prescribed.
There were immediate results from the medication
and physical therapy. The
“walker” went away and the cane was being used less and less until
it was no longer needed.
During a recent visit with my personal physician he
explained what poly neuropathy is in detail.
I was confused because some of my symptoms did not correlate with
poly neuropathy. I asked
the doctor for an explanation and he smiled and shrugged his shoulders.
I said, “I believe I had ALS and God healed me”.
He smiled and agreed. Earlier
this same day, Jay had had an appointment with our doctor and while
there they discussed my condition.
The doctor agreed with Jay that I had been healed by God.
I still take medication and I exercise at home or go for brisk
walks regularly. But, now
it is difficult to believe what I have been through.
I don’t know what God’s plan is now or was
during the last year or two, but I do know that Jay and I have grown
spiritually and have had many, many opportunities to witness.
God works in mysterious ways His wonders to perform.
Praise God!
